Question

Why do I sometimes have to unlock my toolbox with the button on my Phone.

Answer

The Auto Unlock feature relies on your phone automatically connecting to the Genie-Lock when you move into Bluetooth range,  Some phones support this feature better than others, Other factors can also affect this such as other apps on your phone and other bluetooth devices in range.  We have tested the Genie-Lock in various locations with a wide range of phones We  found that the Majority of Phones are able to do this at least 99.6% of the time, In the worst case it was 92% of the time.  To make things as easy as possible we have provided the user with a "re-connect" button to use on the few occasions that your phone does not automatically do this for you. We aim to improve this feature with each new release of the app. We also recommend closing any Unnecessary apps on your phone.

The Distance that I have to be from my toolbox, for it to lock and unlock seems to change.

Answer

the Bluetooth signal strength is affected by many factors , the main one being object such as vehicles between you and your toolbox. In a large empty workshop you may have to leave the workshop for your toolbox to Lock,  However when there is a vehicle between you and your toolbox then it would normally lock when you walk behind the vehicle.

This generally means that when your toolbox is out of sight, it will be locked.





Question

How do I delete a paired device from my Genie-Lock.

Answer

Remove enough drawers from your toolbox to gain access to your Genie-Lock. With your Genie-Lock Powered up, press and hold the "re-set" button on your Genie-Lock until you hear it "Beep"

You will also need to delete the Genie-Lock from the paired devices on your smartphone using the settings menu before you can re-pair it.




Question

I have paired my phone to the Genie-Lock using the bluetooth settings menu on my phone but it wont connect.

Answer

The Genie-Lock will only work if you pair it using the app. Delete it from your paired devices, re-set the Genie-Lock using the reset button and connect it using the Genie-Lock app.




Question

My Genie-Lock has stopped responding to my phone.

Answer

This may happen from time to time with certain phones and is often caused when they spend a prolonged period working on the edge of the Bluetooth range, for example if you are working in the adjacent bay to your toolbox. Just close and reopen the app on your phone while you are within bluetooth range and it should automatically come back to life again.

We also recommend that you close down the app at the end of the working day and re-open it at the start of the next day.









Question

Why does the battery symbol on the app never change?

Answer

ifthe battery symbol represents the input Voltage, if you have fitted the auxiliary battery pack, and your mains power is disconnected, then this will warn you  the battery is getting low and that you should re-connect the mains power. The auxiliary battery is only intended for emergency use. If you don't have the auxiliary battery fitted then the battery symbol will always show full charge.
